Bob Marley once quoted;

“The good thing about music is that when it hits you, you feel no pain”

As I write this I’m actually listening to Blue Swede, Hooked on a Feeling.

Thing is, music bypasses the analytic mind and attaches straight to your emotions.

Want to feel good on a morning (or any time for that matter)?

Listen to some good music.

Hurt by Johnny Cash maybe isn’t best choice to start your day (lol)

But you do have the choice to what type of music to listen to.

What kind of emotions you want to feel.

What gets YOU fired up and feeling good?

I dunno, maybe Ol’ Cash is the guy for you.

Which is a much better option that grabbing your phone and turning on ANY type of media.

Media goes to your analytic mind for processing.

Media has your brain scrambling for information to make decisions based on available data.

It then effects your emotions and actions based on this data.

So, when you wake up and switch on the news or tap the blue icon for Facebook, guess what data you have available?

I’ll guarantee it won’t be feel good vibes.

Someone’s ranting on Facebook, you become embroiled in opinions and release anger or resentment.

The news informs you of some horrendous incident that happened miles from where you live.

The incident has absolutely no effect whatsoever on your life. Yet here you are feeling all sad inside.

It then runs through your mind all day.

But what does music do?

Music gets you in touch with the emotions you want to feel. Not the emotions someone else is making you feel.

And with this I have a little challenge for you — this is awesome to create and maintain motivation.

I’m going to assume you have goals here.

There’s something you really, really want to achieve, right?

OK, so, write down these things.

BUT…

When you do this, listen to music that inspires you.

What that is — only you will know.

And then every day when you write down your goals, listen to the same song or playlist.

Guess what?

Each time you hear this song or playlist you are reminded of your goals.

You are reminded of WHY you’re working your ass off EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

You are reminded of WHY these goals are important to you.

And then when the inevitable low motivation days appear, because they will.

You simply play YOUR music.

It’s such a simple process but it really is game changing.

I have a playlist that I use when I write.

I have songs that I listen to when I need inspiration.

I have go-to tunes for when I need energy.

Each of these remind me of my ultimate goal — My WHY.

Even the kids are now shouting;

“Alexa, play smooth music” — when we’re in the kitchen.

I feel relaxed and chilled when I’m cooking.

So, there’s your challenge.

Try it and let me know how it goes.
